ECiMa™ is one of the most advanced polyethylenes of its kind, providing a high performance alternative to hard bearings.
ECiMa™ is highly cross-linked using cold-gamma irradiation. The blended vitamin E resin is mechanically annealed to give a uniform direct compression molded polyethylene. This allows chemical bonding of the antioxidants right at the start of the polyethylene’s life cycle. In a process designed to avoid the negative impact of thermal remelting and increase material strength, ECiMa™ delivers a biocompatible, ultra low wear, large bearing solution.
The combination of direct compression molding, cold gamma irradiation and mechanical annealing below the remelt temperature, maintains crystallinity and enhances mechanical strength.
